Fall so far

It feels like my UK + Ireland trip was such a long time ago, but I've only been back for a month and what a month it's been. Not in the crazy busy way, but in a way that you realize that things are pretty good.

Let me take you through the past month.

I bought my dad football tickets for the Vikings vs. Lions game for his birthday. Mom, dad and I went to Manny's beforehand for a very meaty brunch buffet before mom dropped us off at the stadium. The Vikings lost, but it was still a very cool experience to see a game live at US Bank Stadium.

One of my cousins got Married in Isle, Minnesota. The colors were absolutely stunning! I took the Friday off before the wedding to go up and be an extra hand if needed and the drive was so lovely with all the trees turning. Friday afternoon was chilly with some scattered rain, but Saturday was sunny and warm and the perfect day for an outdoor wedding. I'm realizing I don't have any pictures of the actual wedding, but here's some of the leaves and of course Miss M who was able to join us since the resort was dog friendly :)

I've been on a soup/healthy food kick lately and made some very delicious soups. The first was a lentil vegetable soup that you definitely can not judge by it's looks. It is so filling and very tasty! The second soup was a broccoli 'cheese' soup, made with cashews and nutritional yeast for the creamy cheesy flavor. Since I'm not vegan, I do sprinkle it with some cheese for good measure. It too, is very tasty and since it is dairy free, an easy soup to reheat.

Every Sunday is football Sunday. I've been watching at my parents lately to get in some Miley time. This past weekend I was told that she had been acting weird and not eating. I showed up with a Vikings jersey for her to wear, which she happily did, but when she was sitting next to me during the game and not my mom or dad, then I knew something was off. As I was petting her, I found three very tiny ticks on her, two on her next and one under her mouth. Within two hours of taking out the ticks she was back to her same old sassy self and demanding all the carrots. Check your animals! Tick season is not over yet!

I don't think it's any secret that I love Minneapolis. It's a place I'm always happy to come home to...well, unless I'm leaving a beach vacation to come home to sub zero temps and snow...but it's a great place that I get to call home. As I've been on my new life diet (food diet, money diet, spending diet, you get the picture.) I've been trying to take public transportation and walk more. It also allows me to take in more of the sights of the city.

Since I've been taking the bus more often, I have been able to find more time to read. I'm on my third book for the month called Into The Water by Paula Hawkins. A little early to tell how much I'm going to like it or not. The last book I read was called The Woman Before Me by Ruth Dugdall. The book I had hoped to pick up was out at the library so in a rush I just picked this one up not thinking I would love it. I loved it. Literally could not put the book down. If you are one of those people that reads the last page first, don't. This book will have you until the very last sentence.
