Minnesota Summers are exactly why we put up with our unpredictable yet always below freezing winters.
Since the 4th of July came and went in the blink of an eye, I'm feeling like I have to cram in all the outdoor festivals, block parties, park visits, walks around the lakes and rooftop happy hours as I can.
This past weekend was the Basilica Block Party and my second year attending.
There were really only two artists that we were interested in seeing so we met for drinks and dinner downtown after work to fuel up and get some happy hour priced beverages before heading to the show.
When we got to the Basilica (Note: The Basilica Block Party began in 1995 as a fundraiser to help pay for the structural restoration of the Basilica of St. Mary, a landmark church in Minneapolis) Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness was just taking the stage so we headed over to catch most of their set.
I'll be honest and admit that I had never heard of them before, but they put on such a fun show and their music was really good and now I'm hooked. Plus he crowd surfed in a rubber duck 👍
After Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, we headed over to another stage and caught the end of NEEDTOBREATH before Brandi Carlile took the stage to close out night one of the Basilica Block Party.
As if Minneapolis didn't already have my heart, being able to watch top artists perform with my favorite city as the backdrop just put the cherry on top of a great night.
