Landlords Uffda!

I can not wait until the day I no longer have to deal with a landlord. Earlier this week I was going back and forth with our landlord trying to discuss options on how we can extend our lease through the Summer. He had already listed our unit (we hadn't given notice) and had showings set up for later that afternoon, which we had just found out about that morning. Luckily, for us, we were able to work with a group that has a flexible move out date and they are willing to wait until August to move in!

The rental market in Minneapolis is tough! There's really two options, the new ultra modern apartments with every amenity under the sun where they charge you an arm and a leg. Or older buildings that have never been renovated, you're most likely sharing rent with a mouse and the chance of having off street parking is slim to none. I have a lot of experience living in the latter, but with the booming rental market, even those units have ridic rates. On the plus side I gained an extra two months to figure out where I'll be moving to this Summer.

Due to the last minute showings, I finally dropped off a box of clothes that I've had hanging out in my room since MLK Jr. Day when I decided I would purge my closet. I sent the rest of the clothes to ThredUp so with any luck they didn't toss out everything I sent in and I'll get some sort of pay out☺

After dealing with the landlord and finally resolving the moving/extending the lease situation I picked up some sun flowers. Something about bright fresh flowers hanging out in your room really helps kick the stress of it all.

An Up Down Weekend

Friday night after work I ran some errands and finally picked up a car mount for my phone when I'm Ubering. I thought I'd give it a test run so I did a couple rides until I heard from one of the roommates that wanted to go out later.

Her HH was going longer than I thought it was and there were two new Datelines on. By the time I got home I threw on some comfy clothes, popped in a Lotza Motza and called it a night. That is, until I was bundled up on the couch with a steaming hot pizza on my lap and cheese dangling from my mouth that the door busted open with three pretty buzzed people. They quickly convinced me to change and go out with them.

We went to my two new favorite bars in the area, Up Down and The Country Bar. Up Down is any video/arcade loving adults dream bar that has old arcade games, skee ball, Mario Cart, giant jenga, etc. and only serves frozen pizza for food. After Up Down we moved next door to The Country Bar that we've discovered has karaoke on Friday nights! It wasn't long after the girls sang a song or two that they were starting to crash so we called it an early night.

Saturday morning  I hit the road around 8:00 to spend the rest of the weekend at the cabin. The day before we had a tree taken down and with it finally being Spring I knew we would have plenty of brush to burn and it wouldn't be too cold to be outside.

It's great to see that it's officially ice off! The ice this year destroyed our beach and yard so we'll have some work to do before we can get any of the dock in. We lost several feet so a lot of what was done will have to be pushed back in to the lake. Since I didn't take a Spring Break trip this year, I'm itching to get out in the water and play in the sun.

Per usual, Sunday was a struggle and I just couldn't wake my self up. I really need to figure out how to teleport, or find someone with a plane. I love the drive up to the cabin at the beginning of a weekend, it's that darn drive home that I just dread.

By the end of the week I will know the fate of my living situation come June 1. Nothing seems to be going in our favor as far as getting our land lord to let us extend our lease through August, or offers on houses, which could mean last minute struggles to find a decent apartment near my current location.

I dread the idea of moving again and really just need to find a forever place one of these years.

Beauty and the Beast + You Tube video

Tuesday evening a few girlfriends and I went to dinner at Punch Bowl Social at the West End. None of us had been yet since it has always been busy so we figured an early dinner on a Tuesday would allow us to get a table. The space is absolutely amazing and I'm excited to go back with a group for a fun night out. They have everything from bowling and darts to karaoke and giant jenga, or you can hang out around one of the three, yes, three bars.

After dinner we walked over to the movie theater to see Beauty and the Beast in 3D. This movie theater has a bar and they will let you get drinks to-go and bring them in to the theater with you! We all grabbed our double pours of sauv blanc and headed to our seats. I absolutely loved everything about Beauty and the Beast and I'm so glad they didn't change much from the original. It brought me back to my childhood and I had the silliest grin on my face the whole time. We all agreed that we weren't super stoked that Dan Stevens played the beast. I for one think that Alexander Skarsgard should have played the beast, and any role that calls for a controlling, sexy, growling actor (cough*50 shades*cough).

After dinner we went back to The AmyWineHouse to watch the original and freely sing all. the. songs!

A few months back we took a family trip to Hawaii for a wedding and I finally got around to putting together the GoPro video. Take a look if you have 10 minutes to spare. Putting this together has me itching to go back to HI and check out more islands.

Random comment for the day: The gym that I go to is below Target center where the Timberwolves play. Their practice facility is between my office and my gym. As I was walking to the gym this morning there's Ricky Rubio just pacing like a normal in the skyway talking on his phone. I find it refreshing when professionals act just like us.

Let's Give This Another Try

It's been quite some time since I've come here to dump my thoughts and what's been going on in my little life. I've been doing a lot of writing on the side, taking actual ink to real paper and it's been wonderful. But I have the itch to come back to this space and just type.

Let's play catch up, shall we?

A couple weeks ago I was offered tickets to the Minneapolis Food and Wine show at Target Field from the Minnesota Beef Council. I was so excited to be able to attend and had a great time trying food from different local restaurants and different wines from around the country.

Speaking of wine, some girlfriends and I will be taking a 'wine country/everyone-turns-30', girls trip this Fall. I've never been to Sonoma/Napa, but I'm excited to check it out and I'm already dreaming about wearing a large floppy hat while sipping wine and strolling through vineyards. If you've been and have any lodging or vineyard suggestions please pass them along!

I'm driving for Uber...when I remember that I am driving for them. I haven't given anyone a ride in a month or so, but need to get that going again since I have some trips I need to save for. Along with wine country in the Fall, I'll be heading out to Bainbridge in June for a family wedding and I'm doing a big solo Scotland/Ireland trip in September. Pretty stoked about that one.

The dating game has been a bunch of the same. Now that the big holidays are over, people are actively looking to actually meet, but the struggle is to find out who's out there just to have someone to date when it's convenient for them or rebounding, and who's out there actually looking for something that will get us off all. the. dating. apps!

Oddly, these past two/three weeks a couple people from my past have popped up out of no where. It had my head going all sorts of directions because one in particular was a tough one to let go of so when he texted out of the blue to apologize for disappearing it lifted a lot of weight off of me. I get too in my own head when a relationship ends and wonder what I did wrong. I certainly know I'm not perfect and have my crazy girl moments, but this gave a real sense of closure, especially since it ended so abruptly.

He doesn't live here any more, but checks in to make sure I'm staying true to my self and that I'm happy, not dating just to see what could work, but actually finding the right one. Strangely refreshing, yet really great knowing I wasn't the one to screw that one up.

Let's see, what else? It's officially Spring! To celebrate I bought myself some tulips and grilled a big juicy steak. Spring also means we are just a couple weeks away from putting the dock in at the lake! It should just be a matter of days before it's ice off. I'm already day dreaming of hot afternoons floating off the shore or meeting friends and family at the sand bar for some fris-beer and cold drinks.
