Date For Life

Last night I attended Date For Life at Graves 601 downtown.

I met some girls for happy hour at Kierans first since it's right next door and so we could go to the event together.

After some food and drinks we headed up to the 5th floor of the Graves 601 hotel to meet up with the rest of the group.

Date for Life is a charity auction for Children's Cancer Research. There are hundreds of items being auctioned off from handbags and gift baskets to girls nights out and police ride alongs. The fun part is the live auction where bachelors and bacheloretts from around the Twin Cities auction off dates.

The live auction was started with a song by Zach Sobiech who has bone cancer, the same type of cancer as Katie Jurek, who Date for Life is in honor of.

There were about 20 dates being auctioned off and the top 10 dates went to the live auction. It was so fun to see the paddles flying up in the air for some of the dates. One date was sold for $4,700. The bachelor works for a radio station so the date was backstage passes and concert tickets for you and 7 of your friends to two different concerts.

Some of the participants paid for their date packages, some dates were donated. A lot of them were tickets to Wild Hockey games, but one was a helicopter ride over the Twin Cities, another was driving around a red Ferrari and a shopping spree. My favorite date? Twins baseball! On field batting practice, and tickets closer to the batter than the pitcher is to the batter. If you don't know this now, you will come baseball season, I'm a huge MN Twins baseball fan.

It was a great night to spend with friends knowing that you are helping a good cause. I lost a close friend to cancer when I was in elementary school and have had several family members pass away due to the awful disease, so I was happy to give back in any way I could.

No blog post is complete without a picture of an outfit. I picked up this dress the other day for this event and I loved it! I got so many compliments on it.

Have a wonderful weekend!
