Every year one of the vendors I work with hosts a big event to get all of their clients together, mix and mingle and do a couple little crafts for different charities in the area.
I went last year and new I didn't want to miss out on this years event, so even though I had to go alone, I bucked up and went.

The event was being held at the Hilton Downtown Minneapolis and I had some time to kill so I grabbed my name tag and played around in the bathroom until the doors officially opened.
Once inside I grabbed a glass of wine from the open bar and made my way around the ball room to see what charities were there.
The first one I stopped at was a crisis center for Mother's who have fallen upon hardship. They take in children for up to three days. So we made care packages with shampoo and conditioner, soap, deodorant, toothpaste and body wash. Then we decorated bibs and onsies.
Next I stopped at the Ronald McDonald House where we made snack bags for children. I used a Happy Meal shaped box and decorated it in a safari style with animals like lions, elephants, giraffes and a zebra, then filled it with yummy snacks like cheez-its, pop-tarts, and fruit snacks. I picked up some volunteer information because I think it would be a great organization to volunteer with.
After I did a couple good deeds, I hit up the food!
It was all pretty yummy, but I don't really like seafood and the bottom left picture was a Shrimp Japanese noodle dish, and a mixed crab salad. The cracker was a Japanese pork that was super delicious. To get the taste of seafood out of my mouth, I headed for the dessert wall. Yes, there was a wall of dessert. I indulged and had two. The first was a red velvet shooter, the second was this chocolate mousse that was super delicious.
I headed out shortly after stuffing my face to grab the bus. I'm looking forward to next year's event, only next time I hope to have company. It was weird how many people asked me why I was sitting by myself and why I came alone. Frankly, I'm proud of myself for going alone!
I was writing down all the food I was eating, but I didn't feel like that was really helping me watch what I was eating, so instead, I'm taking pictures of what I'm eating. I'm a visual person. I can read a word and it won't register right away, but if I see a picture, it clicks, so this method works for me.
Here's what was on my menu for the week.
Breakfast: Banana, Lunch: One slice of Green Mill pepperoni and pineapple pizza with a clementine, Snack: Cliff Bar, Dinner: Tillamook and bacon burger from the Bulldog NE
Breakfast: Half of a breakfast egg white taco with bacon from D'Brians, Lunch: One slice of Green Mill pizza (same as above) with a clementine, Dinner: Chicken Fettucini alfredo with whole wheat pasta.
Breakfast: Tenant breakfast bacon, ham, eggs, waffle, hashbrowns, Lunch: A little bit of leftover fettucini alfredo with carrots and veggie dip (yes, that was the actual size of the lunch I had), Snack: Banana, Dinner: Salad with rotisserie chicken and a little bit of caesar dressing.

I won't be watching what I eat on Friday. It's my company holiday party and I plan on enjoying it! However, I ordered the food, so there'll be veggies, chips and salsa, a salad and some pastas.
