Sunday Funday

The birthday celebrations continued this weekend. I met my friend Laura out on Saturday night. We have the same birthday but she turned the dirty thirty and just got engaged so we spent Saturday night celebrating her. I haven't seen her in months because she moved down to Kansas City to be with her boyfriend fiancee about a year ago! It was so fun being able to catch up and hang out like the old times.

Last year we celebrated our birthday's together at Stella's and we did the exact same thing this year! Lot's of 2-4-1 drinks, hugs, and pictures. I love this girl and I'm so happy that whenever I see her, no matter how much time has passed, we can always jump right back in where we left off.

I celebrated with some friends on Sunday (my actual birthday). We started with bottomless mimosas and brunch at Loring Kitchen & Bar.

I love this place. Not just because you can drink mimosas for $10 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, but because they have the best steak and eggs ever! You get two eggs any way you want with a 5 oz. filet covered in bernaise sauce, my favorite sauce.  The staff was great, and made sure we never saw the bottom of our glasses, even after we paid.

We strolled down LaSalle and Nicollet and headed over to IceHouse. It's only been open for a month or so and I wasn't 100% sure what to expect, but it was really great, and again our server, Thomas, phenomenal! The drink menu was a little overbearing at first so we asked what they were known for and he was so great at letting us know what he liked and what was ordered a lot.

I started with a Fulton Lonely Blonde, fitting for me, and a Stranger In The Night. So, IceHouse is getting a rep for their sipping shots, and this is a salty caramel vodka. It was so good I almost ordered another but I wanted to try more drinks on the list.

My next drink was called On Blueberry Hill. I took a chance with this drink because I really don't like gin, but Thomas assured me it didn't taste like gin. He was right. It tasted like heaven in my mouth. It was such a hot, sunny day so I asked for something fruity and refreshing. Thomas hit it right on the nose with this drink.

On Blueberry Hill is blueberry gin collins with a hint of vanilla and cardamom.

It was such a nice day to spend with some girlfriends, chatting, celebrating, laughing and enjoying a few drinks on a patio.

I can't wait to see what 28 has in store for me!

I took this cab home that made me feel like I just been arrested for having too much fun on a Sunday
