I, surprisingly, slept in until 10 this morning, so my plan to get out and run right away didn't happen. Instead I bummed around on the couch for a couple of hours and ran some quick errands with the plan to run when I got home.
I put my groceries away, tied up my shoes and as I walked out the door and onto the stoop of my building, it started to pour.
I finally made it out the door and tried a new trail that I never knew existed. It was so pretty and definitely makes you feel like you got 100% out of the city, even though at a couple points you do run under the interstate and along the rail road tracks, most of the trail looks like this.
My training run called for 4 miles, or 40 minutes of running/jogging. I went 5.2 miles in 52 minutes with an average pace of 9:58. Basically when I started my legs didn't want to move so I decided to alternate walking/running every time a new song started, so I feel like this is a good time. I have just over a month to add one mile so I can make it through my first 10k in October.
I did really well eating today too. Started the day with a Crunchy Peanut Butter Clif Bar, and dinner was brown rice, broccoli and chicken from the whole chicken I cooked in the crock pot last night. I can't believe how much meat I got off that little bugger. I have dinner plans every night this coming week, so it should last me all of my lunches.
In other fun news, yesterday I found out one of my cousins is preggers, which will be the first baby on my dad's side of the family!! Then, I found out one of my girlfriends got engaged!! We share the same birthday so there will be lots of celebrating between it being our birthday weekend and her new engagement!!
