Happy Administrative Professionals Week!

Yes! Us Admins get a whole week dedicated to us! My office doesn't really do anything to recognize the work that I do during this one week, but one of the perks of the job is being an Event Planner and with that, I get recognition through the vendors I use. One of the spaces we host a lot of meetings and events is the Minneapolis Club. They hold several events throughout the year that Executive Assistants and Event Planners are invited to, and on Wednesday they had their annual Executive Assistant/Event Planners Appreciation Reception. I was able to bring a friend, so I invited Kayla and Kari to come with. As we walked into the Main Lounge, we were greeted with a summery citrus cocktail. They had live music, a wine table and a bar, food and pass hors'deuvres. One of my favorites was mini grilled cheese sandwiches in tomato sauce served on a spoon. It was adorable and delicious! When we left we were handed goodie bags with Minneapolis Club coffee, mini bottle of champagne and these little coconut biscuits that were oh so delicious!

I really want to start adding more pictures to my blog and I've seen on some blogs that people kind of wrap up their weekly post with 'my week in Instagram'. I only took a couple of pictures with my phone this week, so there isn't a whole lot to share. But here's what I have.

Sunset at the cabin over the weekend. The sky was turning purple and it was so beautiful and peaceful. Please be prepared to see a lot of lake/sunrise/sunset pictures now that cabin season is upon us.
I accidentally took a picture of my keyboard at work but thought it looked pretty cool with a little vintage touch added to it.

And finally, I purchased a new book this week, along with some new nail polish color. If I can't afford a 35 mani/pedi every other week, I'm at least going to pamper myself. What I can't get over is that this book was $17! I love these books though, there are four in the series and this is the second book. Thank goodness my library card came in the mail this week, because I don't think I want to fork over another $40 for the other two books! If you like a good chick-flick read, pick up this series by Nora Roberts. It has the right amount of girlfriend fun, drama, boys, lust, love, weddings and everything that makes up a good chick book.

Stay tuned next week as I hope to have plenty more pictures to recap my week. I'm heading North after work today and the whole family will be up there. Kari is also having her birthday celebration on Friday and it's Cinco De Mayo on Saturday! If I don't have pictures, then maybe it means I had too good of a time?! We'll see.

Now, one little rant. I was doing so good trying to lose just 5 more pounds before Memorial Day, I know I still have a month, but I'm so disappointed in myself. I was working out during my lunch and making salads or left overs to bring so I wouldn't eat out. When I would get home, I would Zumba or do a DVD like Pilates or something off Netflix. When I weighed myself at the end of the week I was at my lowest weight since my South Dakota days. Down 25 pounds! Until this week and I totally crashed and burned. My cravings have been out of this world, eating Leeann Chin and Taco Johns for lunch (potato ole's with sour cream!) and large pasta portions for dinner. One sauce called for a whole stick of butter! Besides that I only worked out three times this week and I didn't even push myself very hard. Stepped on the scale and up 3 lbs. Ouch! Here's back to the grind, eating healthy and hard workouts!

'Man friend' and I went out on Monday for some drinks. I've said it before and I'll say it again. We are a lot alike. When I'm seeing someone, sometimes I like to not initiate a text or phone call to see if they will, if they miss me and want to see what I'm up to. Apparently he's the same way! We didn't talk for four days and he was quick to point it out. It's funny because we both said we were annoyed that we didn't hear from the other person. Well, we've talked every day this week, a bit of an improvement.

I'll leave you with these two suggestions. If you are into country music, or are seeing someone your kind of digging, check out these two songs.

Hunter Hayes - Wanted and Gloriana - Kissed You Good Night

These two songs, I'm slightly obsessed with this week. Enjoy!

March heat brings April snow?

I really need to start tracking my days better because I don't know where the time has gone. Here's what has been going on over the past two weeks.

Kari, mom, dad and I made it up to the cabin during the Easter weekend. It was a beautiful day when we arrived on Friday evening. The water was so crystal clear, it's making me very eager to be up there playing in the water.
Pretty water
Since the whole county is under a "No Burn" warning due to the storm that came through last summer and the last of snow and rain this winter, we wern't able to have a fire this time up. It wasn't all bad though, Saturday afternoon into the early evening it rained pretty good, so I worked on cutting and sewing the bags for the corn hole set we are making.

After the cutting and sewing was complete and the rain started to come down. We decided it would be time for happy hour!

On Sunday, Kari and I got up and were home by noon. Later in the day, Easter Sunday, mom and dad picked us up for Easter dinner at Chino Latino!
(I should probably mention that Kayla and Joe were in Mexico with Joe's family and that's why they were not a part of Easter this year, we didn't forget about them)

The Monday after Easter was the Minnesota Twins home opener! Kari and I bought dad's ticket so the three of us enjoyed a day of Minnesota baseball. We started with a lite lunch at Kieran's then wandered over to the stadium for the opening ceremony events.

It was a very chilly and windy day, but as you can see, we were in the sun and were blocked from the wind. It turned out to be a perfect day for baseball, except that the Twins lost.

On Saturday I went out with my 'man friend'. We started with dinner at Ryan's Pub which is just around the corner from my apartment. It was a nice enough day that we were able to get a table outside. While we were trying to figure out what to do with our night, I suggested trying the Fulton Tab Room. He really likes their beer so we hailed a cab and headed off to Fulton Brewery.
The Gastrotruck was there serving food. Had we known that we probably would have passed on Ryan's and sampled food from the food truck. Fulton was great! They had four beers on tap and each beer was only $5. Two of the beers you can get in restaurants and liquor stores, but two, they only brew enough to keep up with the demand of what they sell in the tap room. We both agreed that we will definitely be going there again soon!
